Someday We Will Fly

Fleeing Poland and the Nazis, fifteen-year-old Lillia, her father, and baby sister have reached Shanghai, one of the only places that will accept Jews without visas. But in Shanghai, they are among the thousands of refugees searching for shelter, work, and food. Everything is unfamiliar and frightening to Lillia as she comes of age, and struggles to survive and keep her little family safe as they wait and hope that her mother will join them.

Moving and harrowing, Lillia's story illuminates a little-known part of Holocaust history.
