"Origin of The Species" is the landmark volume in which Charles Darwin presented his theory of evolution by natural selection, or "Darwinism, " and forever changed the way humanity viewed science and philosophy. When it appeared in 1859, the first edition is said to have sold out in one day. It has endured in modern times, as much an historical document as an important theoretical text.
