Zoya Phan was born in the remote jungles of Burma. A member of the Karen ethnic group, which has struggled for freedom against the Burmese military dictatorship for almost fifty years, Zoya is a true daughter of the revolution. In February 2008, her father was assassinated by an agent of the Burmese regime.
