Description
In 1788, Lieutenant Daniel Rooke arrives in Australia with the First Fleet and its cargo of convicts. A soldier, an astronomer, and something of an outsider, Rooke hopes this strange new land will give him the chance to make his name. As the newcomers struggle to establish themselves, Rooke begins to chart the stars. But it's not in the sky that he makes discoveries. Out in his isolated observatory, Rooke comes to know the local Aboriginal people and forges a remarkable connection with one child who will change his life in ways he never imagined.
